The stor­my path of earth­ly life

In hu­man guise He trod

When first the blest as­sur­ance comes

Behold the Lamb of God!

O when our Lord shall come again

Be this the song we sing

Behold the Lamb who once was slain

Our Sav­ior and our king.

The Lamb of God once sac­ri­ficed

To save a world from sin

Thro’ Him alone we come to God

And life eter­nal win.

To bear our griefs He meek­ly bowed

Beneath the chast­en­ing rod

’Tis by His stripes our souls are healed

The per­fect Lamb of God!

They knew Him not for whom He left

The realms of light ab­ove

Despised by those for whom He died

O won­drous depth of love!
