’Twas Je­sus sought my wan­d’ring soul

And with a shep­herd’s care

He brought me kind­ly to His fold

He is my ad­vo­cate with God

My Sav­ior and my friend

His mer­cies new with ev­ery morn

Like bal­my show­ers des­cend.

My soul shall mag­ni­fy the Lord

My voice His love pro­claim

And ev­ery power with­in me join

To bless and praise His name.
