Christ My Helper

Composer: Adam Geibel

O Christ of God who lived for me

With joy I lift my voice to Thee

And pray that Thou wouldst hear;

As Thou didst die upon the tree

To save my soul and make it free

Be Thou my helper near.

And should I wander far from Thee

O’er desert wastes of land and sea?

Still be Thou at my side

For kept by Thee I cannot stray

Except to find a better way

My Savior

and my guide.

And when my work on earth is o’er

The sun has set to rise no more

And night is sweeping by;

Then through the darkness I would see

Thy radiant face look down on me

A beacon in the sky.
