O Blessèd Spirit from on High

O bless­èd Spir­it from on high

Who came to take the Mas­ter’s place

And work His work with­in our hearts

And fill us with His heav’n­ly grace;

Leave us no long­er com­fort­less

But ev­er in our spir­its dwell

The Fa­ther’s pre­sence to re­veal

The Sav­ior’s gra­cious love to tell.

Bring all His teach­ings to our minds

And guide us in­to all His truth

Take of His own

and show to us

The sec­ret of im­mor­tal youth.

Convince of sin and right­eous­ness

Of judg­ment

and the life to be

That by the cleans­ing pow­er of grace

Our souls from ev­il may be free.

Perfect in us Christ’s ho­ly joy

Endue us with His pro­mised pow­er

That we may live as He would live

Until life’s glad and fi­nal hour.
