O Holy Calm!

O holy calm! O blessèd peace!

This happy Easter morning brings

To doubting minds a glad release;

New faith in every heart upsprings.

A solemn joy pervades the day;

Bright hope is kindled in each breast:

Pain

grief and fear are cast away

The soul in Jesus

is at rest.

O wondrous time so thrilled with life!

With life

not merely for a day

But

victor over earthly strife

A life eternal

sure

alway.

O promise blest! O message sweet!

Of life and love and happiness;

Eternity shall make complete

What now in vision we possess.

O Christians all

with one accord

Lift up your souls this Easter morn

And

in the rising of your Lord

Strive ye that better lives be born.

O children dear

your praises bring:

Make glad the day with songs of joy;

And may the service of the King

Be evermore your hearts’ employ.
