Repent Today

Repent today! Tomorrow’s rising sun

May see Thee in the cold embrace of death;

Soon shall thy brief

uncertain course be run—

This present hour may see thy latest breath.

Repent

repent! Tomorrow’s sun may never rise

Before the Spirit strives again with thee

Eternity may greet thy waking eyes.

Repent today! So long thy stubborn will

Has risen in rebellion ’gainst thy God—

Why wilt thou grieve and wound thy Master still?

He the Creator

and thyself a clod?

Repent today! Still stands thy blessèd Lord

And bids thee yield to Him a loving heart;

O trust Him and believe His promised word

Nor longer from His presence dwell apart.

Repent today! Thou canst not tell the glory

That waits thee in that happy home above

But angels strike their harps and tell the story

Of joys that bless the soul redeemed by love.
