Succor of the tempt­ed

Hear me when I call;

Turn to me in mer­cy

At Thy feet I fall;

Help me bear life’s cross­es

All my sins for­give

Like my Lord and Mas­ter

Daily may I live.

Give me strength

I pray Thee

To re­sist the ill

When my cour­age fails me

Be my com­fort still;

Thou hast known temp­ta­tion

Yet with­out a sin;

By Thy strength I’ll con­quer

By Thy grace I’ll win.

In my dark­est tri­als

Be my con­stant friend

Lead me ev­ery mo­ment

To my jour­ney’s end;

When the waves of Jor­dan

Fiercely round me roll

In Thine arms of mer­cy

Bear my faint­ing soul.
