Will it come

the day of God

When the curse shall be re­moved?

Will it bring the venge­ful rod

Or the voice of the Be­loved?

Sure as the eter­nal throne

Stands the pro­mise of His word:

He shall make His glo­ry known;

All man­kind shall hail Him Lord.

What doth hin­der?—hate of hell

Strife of men

and greed of lust;

But more won­der­ful to tell

Waits the Pa­tience of the Just!

God’s long suf­fer­ing stand­eth still

Mercy plead­ing with the foe!

But who shall re­sist His will

When He lets His fu­ry go?

Burning like a fur­nace flame

Fed by wrath that ca­nnot spare

See the glo­ry of His name

Rising

spread­ing ev­ery­where.

Oh

be­fore that aw­ful day

Let our dark re­bel­lion cease;

Let us meet Him in the way

And His com­ing shall be peace.
