The Rock of Refuge

Surely

sure­ly there is safe­ty

In the shel­ter of our Lord

He is rea­dy to pro­tect us

When His mer­cy is im­plored;

Let us look to Him in trou­ble

When upon life’s stor­my sea;

He will be a place of re­fuge

Where our souls at rest may be.

He will lead us on to Heav­en

If we fol­low in His way;

And will be the star to guide us

To the bright

ce­les­tial day;

Let us steer life’s ves­sel ev­er

To the har­bor of His grace

So that He at last may bring us

To be­hold Him face to face.

He’s a re­fuge nev­er fail­ing

And a rock on which to stand;

And to us He’s ever reach­ing

With a ten­der

lov­ing hand;

He will keep us safe for ev­er

Sheltered by His bound­less love

Till we en­ter thro’ the por­tals

To the home pre­pared ab­ove.
