The Water of Life (Ferguson)

O the joy—tell it out

My soul’s victory;

I must raise my glad shout

The Lord hath blessed me;

He whispered

I love thee

Why keep up the strife?

I yielded

He gave me

The water of life.

O the water of life

With salvation is rife

And the Savior gives freely

This water of life.

In the service of sin

I lost my good name;

War without and within

No guerdon but shame;

Then at last

when undone

I ceased the vain strife;

T’my soul

then from God’s Son

Came water of life.

This fountain of cleansing

Is open to all

Who

seeking the blessing

On Jesus Christ call;

Now go to Him

friendless

There’s death in the strife

But bliss that is endless

Thro’ water of life.
