When the Savior Comes Again

Oh

the night is long and dreary

But the breaking dawn is near

And the Lord in dazzling splendor

Now shall speedily appear;

And our loved ones calmly sleeping

That are done with grief and pain

We shall meet them in the glory

When the Savior comes again.

In that morning

in that morning

In the brightness of His glory

He to earth will come again;

With Him come the saints and angels

For He’s coming back to earth

Again to reign.

Oh

the joyful resurrection!

’Tis a blessèd hope indeed

For the ones who sleep in Jesus

And from sin and sorrow freed;

We shall be caught up together

With them we shall join the strain

Of the praise for our salvation

When the Savior comes again.

Oh

the signs increase around us

We

the heralds of the King

How we long the blessèd moment

Of the silver trumpet’s ring!

When we’re gathered to the Savior

We shall echo the refrain—

Hallelujah in the highest!

When the Savior comes again.

How it cheers the drooping spirit

How it sets the soul on fire;

For our risen Lord is coming

He our joy

and heart’s desire.

We are longing to behold Him

Who so soon on earth shall reign;

What a time of wondrous gladness

When the Savior comes again.
